The data is a subset of a global daily dataset of CH₄ emissions from peatland for 1981–2023, simulated using the LPJ-GUESS dynamic global vegetation model at 0.5° spatial resolution. The dataset was generated by driving LPJ-GUESS (version 4.1, revision 12177) with time-series inputs, including ERA5 climate forcing, atmospheric CO₂ concentrations, nitrogen deposition, and land-use data.

CH₄ emissions from carbon-rich peatland are simulated based on Wania et al. (2010) (https://doi.org/10.5194/gmdd-3-1-2010). The processes including methane production, gas diffusion (O2 and CH4), plant-mediated gas transport, methance oxidation, and methane ebullition.
