New process-based high-resolution radon flux maps for Europe have been calculated based on the basic transport equations and the methodology developed in an earlier study by Karstens et al. (2015). New input data sets such as soil uranium content, physical soil properties, as well as soil moisture and temperature reanalyses from the ERA5-Land and GLDAS-Noah2.1 models have become available at high spatial and temporal resolution. These data were included in the calculations of monthly (for the years 2006-2022) and daily radon fluxes (for 2017-2022). Modeled fluxes were compared with new episodic as well as continuous observations over few months.
