This dataset provides hourly resolved estimates of 14CO2 discharge rates from major nuclear facilities located in or near Europe, namely commercially operating nuclear power plants and nuclear fuel reprocessing facilities. It covers the period from 2016 to 2023 and includes a preliminary preview for 2024. The dataset combines reported annual radiocarbon discharge data with reactor-specific characteristics and hourly electricity generation data (collected from the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform https://transparency.entsoe.eu/ and the IAEA Power Reactor Information System https://pris.iaea.org/PRIS/) to derive temporally resolved 14CO2 discharge rates for Pressurized Water Reactors (PWRs) and Boiling Water Reactors (BWRs). For all other facility types, the ¹⁴CO₂ discharge rate is assumed to be constant for the reporting periods of measured 14CO2 discharge. A detailed methodological description is provided in CAMS Report No. (to be filled when final version is available).

The dataset includes three csv files: a) "NPP_14CO2_2016-01-01_2025-01-01.csv" which holds the estimated discharge rate timeseries for all included nuclear facilties. b) "facility_metadata.csv" which provides the names and locations of the included nuclear facitlities as well as the nuclear reactor types located at the facilities. c) "data_origin_citations.csv" which links each discharge rate estimate in “NPP_14CO2_2016-01-01_2025-01-01.csv” that is directly based on a discharge measurement to the corresponding data source of the respective 14CO2 discharge measurement. Further details are provided in the "readme.txt" file.
