Internet connection with the station through 4G netwrok. GHG observations are automatically transferred to an ftp site. During extreme weather events we remotely shut down the station to avoid major damages.
The station is located in a remote area, 50 km from Heraklion—the island’s closest and largest city, with a population of about 200,000. The nearest town is Neapoli, situated 10 km to the south, with approximately 3,000 inhabitants. The Greek National Road 90 passes through Neapoli.

The location is coastal on a small hill covered by scrubs, phrygana vegetation that is typical of Crete island. The island has three major mountains (about 2450m height), one of them located to the south west of the station.
