Tall tower (180m high) with four sampling levels, equipped with meteorological sensors. One shelter is hosting the analyzer right at the foot of the tower. Another shelter is dedicated to TCCON equipment.

Trainou station is about 15 km northeast of Orléans city (115.000 habitants) and about 100 km south of Paris. Five small villages (< 2000 habitants) are located nearby the station (within 5 km). The A10 highway is located about 20km west of the tower and another road with relatively high traffic (E60) is located 8 km south of the tower.

The Trainou station is located in a flat area 10km north of the Loire river. According to the national statistics for Orléans county (Loiret), most of the nearby land is agriculture fields (49.7%) and forests (30.1%) (source: INSEE 2008).
