The Nalohou site is located in north-western Benin inWest Africa, in the Donga watershed. Nalohou lies in a tropical region characterized by a dry and a wet (or rainy) seasons separated by transitional phases (moistening and drying). The site area is flat with a slope lower than 3% and the vegetation cover is dynamic, one can find a succession of different crops interspersed with a fallow period. The soil is almost bare during the dry season, while grass completely covers it during the fallow periods.
