This observation tower is in a 60-year-old larch (Larix principis-rupprechtii) plantation at the Saihanba Forest Farm in Chengde, Hebei Province, China. The trees are approximately 20 meters tall. This forest consists of a single tree species with a dense canopy, while the understory shrubs and grasses are sparse.
