The site Grosses Bruch (ICOS code DE-GsB) is a private agricultural grassland area located in a wetland area, with mowing and grazing use. The site is located in valley lowland in the Magdeburger Borde sunk. Originally a low moor area in which precipitation water from the surrounding areas as well as floods from the Ilse and Oker rivers were collected. Since the 12th century, the area experienced an intensive and large-scaled drainage by Frederick II and in the 20th century.
