Siikaneva is large pristine open boreal wetland complex, mostly anoligotrophic fen with few isolated ombrotrophic bogs. The study site Siikaneva-2 is located in a bog part of the wetland. Vegetation is characterized by dwarf shrubs on hummocks, sedges and Sphagnum mosses on wetter surfaces.
