Appi forest meteorology research site is located in a mildly-sloped tableland of west foot of Mt. Nishimori in Hachimantai city, Iwate Prefecture. It is a secondary forest of boreal deciduous broadleaf forest mainly with japanese beech. There is not much vegetation on the forest floor and evergreen trees are rarely seen. It snows heavily from November to May and snow depth reaches 2m.The turbulent fluxes of sensible heat, latent heat, CO2 were measured using the eddy covariance system.
