The Field Science Education and Research Center, Faculty of Agriculture, Niigata University has two stations, Muramatsu Station and Shindori Station, located in Gosen City (former Muramatsu Town, 45 km from Niigata University) and Shindori, Nishi-ku, Niigata City (3 km from Niigata University), respectively.,For the purpose of providing basic agricultural work experience.,The Muramatsu Station conducts research on labor-saving production technology using agricultural machinery, resource recycling in arable and livestock production, and productivity and reproductive performance of dairy cows in resource-recycling dairy farming.,Muramatsu Station has a 16 ha field, where food crops (soybeans and potatoes), vegetables (green onions, watermelons, and radishes), and grass are planted, and dairy cows and goats are raised.,In cooperation with Gosen City, the farm accepts local junior high school students for practical farm training and school children for farm tours, and also provides vegetables for school lunches.,In addition, the farm conducts trials and research on measures to prevent damage caused by continuous cropping of taros, Gosen City''s brand-name vegetable. The turbulent fluxes of sensible heat, latent heat, CO2 were measured using the eddy covariance system.
