The site is located in the headwaters of a tributary of the Koise River in the Tone River system in southern Ibaraki Prefecture.,The study was initiated to understand the runoff mechanism of the watershed and to clarify changes in the water balance mechanism associated with forest growth.,Rainfall-runoff observations (3.76 ha watershed area) began in 1978, and were suspended between 1993 and 2001, but resumed in 2002.,In 2013, flux observation was started. These observations continue to the present.,,
