This Maktau tower is located about 25 Kilometers from Mwatate Town in Taita Taveta county. Along the Voi-Taveta highway, it is about 5 kilometers from Maktau shopping center, in a smallholder farm. The tower is on the north east end of the targeted field. The farm is used for growing Maize and vegetables for subsistence, a typical practice among farmers in this area. The measurements for water and carbon fluxes began in 2018 and are continuing. The soils are mostly sandy-clay-loams and the site is classified as Semi-Arid.
