This study investigated evapotranspiration and CO2 exchange, observed by the eddy covariance method, over two larch-dominated forests, in the middle part of the Lena basin, eastern Siberia. Two observation sites in larch-dominated forests in the middle parts of the Lena basin were selected for this study. The first was the Elgeeii (EG) station on the Aldan River, which is a branch of the Lena River, located 300?km south-east of Yakutsk. The other was the SP station located near Yakutsk. The dominant species in both forests are larch (Larix cajanderi), mixed with mainly willow (Salix bebbiana) at EG and birch (Betula pendula) at SP. Birch and willow are the third dominant species at EG and SP, respectively. At EG, the forest partly consisted of young pines (Pinus sylvestris).
