RV Celtic Explorer is owned and managed by the Marine Institute (on behalf of the Irish State) and operated by P&O Maritime Services. Surface ocean and atmospheric CO2 measurements commenced in 2017 under PI Margot Cronin. The research vessel operates primarily in Irish and Northeast Atlantic waters, with occasional Transatlantic and Arctic cruises.
